A Mexican Vacation
Aug 4 2008

We are visiting family in Mexico which means posting has been and will be light for the next week or so. I’ve seen some interesting things during our visit to do posts about later ranging from tamale stands to gorgeous flowers to street peddlers to laughing kids.  Our flight was thankfully uneventful and so far our trip has been really nice.

We took our first overnight trip away from the kids since they were born!  My wonderful sister-in-law and brother-in-law were kind enough to watch them while we took a two day escape to San Miguel de Allende for the weekend!  It’s so great to have family with older kids who like to play and watch our kids. 🙂

So in the meantime, here’s a picture from San Miguel for your viewing pleasure:

Oh, I’m so jealous! I haven’t been to San Miguel de Allende since I was a little girl! I remember the funny-shaped trees and eating ice cream in the plaza… corn ice cream! Anyway, hope the rest of your getaway is nice and relaxing!

Great picture! Beautiful church – at least, I think it’s a church? 🙂 I love how there is a single tree on either side.

@Mariana – They still do cut the trees in interesting shapes. I didn’t see corn ice cream but there were a lot of people eating ice cream and vendors selling little Mexican dolls and ballons in the plaza!

@Eric Yes, it’s a church! And that’s me in the pink shirt with my back to the camera. 🙂

@Ambajam – Yes, it was a nice weekend getaway. We need more! It’s amazing how long many of these churches in Mexico have been standing.

@Justin Case – Only you would think of the guy as being ZZ Top. I do like a couple of their songs. “She’s Got Legs” is one of their songs I think. Yes, San Miguel is an interesting city. 🙂
