Baby Tip by Babble Soft – Sleeping – July 16, 2007

Learn how to sleep standing up. Just kidding! I found that when I was tired and our son didn’t want to be put down right after feeding, that laying him on my chest would relax us both. I was always nervous wherever he slept when he was a newborn but when he was on my chest and I knew he wasn’t going to fall off I could rest a bit easier. I’m not sure I ever really fell asleep but I knew that if he needed me I was right there. 🙂

What a great photo!!
My kids never want to lay down immediately either, and I can’t count how many times I fell asleep in my glider-rocker with a baby on my chest. : )
If I need to do something after nursing, I pass the baby on to Clint, and HE gets to sit in the rocker with a baby on his chest. It’s one of the nicest feelings in the world…. : )
That is a very sweet picture! I have one similar to that pose, except during the day, with my oldest child. I love it!
Thanks Carole and Tam P. It’s one of the pictures we have that make me smile the most. 🙂
With our first child my husband used to come home every night and fall asleep on thelounge with our daughter like that.
Shalene – My husband used to hold our kids like that too sometimes. I’ll have to see if I can find a picture of him and put it up in a future post. 🙂
This picture of Aruni and the baby was taken at night using our videocamera in “photo camera” mode with its built-in infra-red illuminator so as to not wake the baby. It was one of those things where I walked in, saw him lying on her, and knew right away that this had to be captured. It was a good thing we had the videocamera, otherwise we wouldn’t have been able to get the night shot without using a flash…which would have ruined the picture.
Erin takes great pictures!
Awww, what a beautiful picture of both mother and son!
Thanks Connie!
